UMAA is proud of all of the hard work and dedication both our students put into this past weekend's event, Who's Who Championship hosted by the Black Dragons Dojo. Their achievements are no accident. These warriors earned everything they accomplished this past weekend. We had students compete and place in Kata and Kumite fighting. Every student brought home a hard earned metal from their impressive work.  We are also proud of our sister dojos who also competing including Mountain Martial Arts and Rowen Colleges Martial Arts Club. The Rowen Martial Arts Club is led by our student Maddie Hicks who has showed an amazing level of leadership in rallying and preparing multiple students form different styles. Maddie also placed herself in the competition!  One of the reasons we love the Black Dragons and their events is because of the opportunity they provide for Specials Needs students to compete. Both our School as well as the Black Dragons have a Specials Needs program and we were proud to see our students compete and Achieve together. The Black Dragons have gone a step further with their team positively being named, Team Achieve, led by Master GJ Torres JR. Big thanks to Sensei Bridget for also playing a huge part in helping with our Special Needs program and overall instruction.  Another congratulations to all competitors from all schools who stepped up and gave it their own! These students are our future black belts and leaders in the community.

And a local thank you to Holmdel Township Police Department, Hazlet Township Police Department, Keansburg Police Department, and Middletown Police Department for keeping all of our student's families safe! #NationalLawEnforcementAppreciationDay This past weekend our school had the honor of participating in an action packed weekend with seminars, tournaments, and a Hall of Fame Dinner. It was the Action Martial Arts event hosted in Atlantic city. Our school was re-inducted into the Action Martial Arts Hall of Fame for our contributions and education to the Martial Arts. It was especially noticed that our school took serious efforts to evolve and continue training during the pandemic while keeping students safe.  Also during the weekend event there were multiple professional development seminars. Our school was represented by Sensei Neal and Jennie who participated in multiple seminars from Martial Artists from all over the world. They made a fantastic impression on all of the seminar presenters. Some of the seminars included the Joe Lewis Kickboxing Clinic, Fighting with Don "The Dragon", and more!
In addition to the seminars there were two tournaments going on at the same time, the "Battle of the Boardwalk" and the "War at the Shore". Sensei Mat participated and won first in Weapons and Kata as well as winning Grand Champion for Kata with Seiyunchin - "Control and Pull". 
Great work to all members of the school and their dedication to the education of Martial Arts! We are proud of everyone who both part of our school and others who have made the choice this past year to get on the training floor!  More exciting announcements! We have finally received positive news on our United Martial Artist School Hoodies! We have not received final pricing yet but all those interested please email or message us your size to help reserve your hoodie. Pricing information will be sent out as soon as we have it. It will be a black hoodie with a design similar to our T-Shirt with a “Goju-Ryu” Kanji Embroidered on the front and our school logo silk screened on the back. The hoodie is zip down with two pockets. Attached is a mockup picture from the supplier of what the hoodie will look like.   After a recent tournament using Hayabusa gloves, we are proud to announce United Martial Artist Academy is an official vendor for Hayabusa Boxing Gloves and Apparel! Our goal as a school is to provide the highest level of traditional and combat Martial Arts training while also providing access to quality equipment. They provide firm support for your wrist and hand protection while not sacrificing speed in striking techniques. Hayabusa T3 Boxing and MMA Gloves as well as Marvel's Captain America Gloves are now available for purchase.
The school will have the T3 Boxing Gloves in Black as the standard stocked glove but all colors are available for purchase. As 2021 comes to an end we are so proud of all our students and instructors and all they have accomplished! 2021 led to the relaunching of our school with the continued development and refinement of our Martial Arts. We are excited about all the new students who have joined and existing students who continue to take things to the next level. This year was just the beginning with new ideas and goals for 2022 ahead! This past year we had multiple belt gradings/promotions, blackbelt promotion, reestablishment and performance of our Demo Team, multiple successful competitions, joining an global organization, and mush more while having a whole lot of fun! We are looking forward to 2022 and want to thank everyone for being part of our Martial Arts Family! Wishing everyone a Happy and Healthy New Year!  Ending the year strong with another competition last Sunday with our strong fantastic students! This event went beyond competition as it was a charity tournament to collect and raise money for Toy's For Tots, hosted by the World Karate Union! Our school is extremely proud to have participated and donated the 2021 Toys For Tots Karate Tournament! Our school was able to bring roughly 50 toys with us to donate from our student's contributions. The event overall raised $8,300 for Marine Toys for Tots Foundation! Every student at our school should feel proud to be part of helping a child in need being connected with a Toy this holiday.  Our students were in full form with many of them competing and placing in Weapons, Kata, and Kumite/Fighting. Also a VERY colorful demonstration by Sensei Adel involving a shoe that earned him a Silver Medal!  Overall the school brought home 5 Gold Medals, 8 Silver, and 8 Bronze for the day amongst all our participating students. Our students whipped through their weapons demonstrations with some of the most exciting Nunchaku, Sai, Escrima, and Bo Staff Katas! Sensei Jennie was fierce with her Escrimas and her gloves when fighting in the ring. All student's placing in Kata demonstrated Traditional Okinawan Goju-Ryu Kenkyukai Katas. Adult Beginner white belt, Ben, earned a Gold metal with his demonstration of Gekisai Dai Ichi Kata. Sensei Howie earned a Bronze with his demonstration of Saifa, and Sensei Mat earned Gold with Seiyunchin Kata. The day was finished off with Sensei Mat taking home a Gold Metal for the Adult Men's Black Belt fighting division with his Captain America Hayabusa Gloves!  Congratulations to everyone involved for their victories, effort, and being part of such an amazing cause for the holidays! Thanks to the World Karate Union for inviting and hosting such a great event. We look forward to being part of the next event.
 So proud of how far our school has come in one year! Our Martial Arts family continues to grow and educate students of all ages! It has also been more difficult for some students as we have transitioned into our new school curriculum. Starting in all types of Martial Arts, the foundational moves are all similar coving basic blocks, hand technics, and kicking movements. As the students test and move on they find those same basics transitioning into more complex and combinations of movements.  Student of all ages were tested on all curriculum requirements for their own level to earn their new rank. Students who have not met those requirements will continue to train until they reach their goal and earn the ability to test. Congratulations to all our promoted students who successfully passed their required grading for their rank. Their journey is only beginning!   The Who's Who Championship, hosted by Hei Long Dojo, is a New Jersey tournament that happens every year at Fort Monmouth. The United Martial Artist Academy was very excited to be invited and have the chance to be part of this in person experience.
Very proud of our warriors and mentors who came out to participate and support last week's tournament! Our students placed in multiple divisions in kata, weapons, and fighting! This is the first tournament we went to as a school since COVID-19 we couldn't be prouder of everyone's effort and dedication! Congratulations to everyone who attended and competed! |
